 Accurately process and allocate laboratory specimens and orders from all over the hospital.
 Verify proper patient/specimen identification, specimen testing requirements, and all accompanying orders.
 Utilize all essential laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and computer systems to test specimen and correctly label and deliver specimens to appropriate laboratory sections within ordered timeframes.

 Centrifuge specimens and aliquots sample into proper shipping containers; ensure all specimens are collected into proper tubes, correct anticoagulant if needed, sterile versus non-sterile, cultures vs. viral cultures are properly labeled.
 Maintain Quality Assurance indicators for all shipped and received specimens and keep a detailed log of dates and times of shipment and receipt.
 Review bills from vendor laboratories to verify all charges for specimen testing and adheres to DOD contracts.
 Provide stringent Chain of Custody procedures for specimens testing for drug usage or forensic testing.
 Strictly adhere to Code of Federal Regulations regarding certify/transportation of infectious or bio-hazardous materials, and attend the Transport of Biomedical material Course every 2 years to maintain certification and authorization to ship those materials.
 Provide training and mentor all new hires regarding all quality assurance initiatives, Phlebotomy practices and procedures, and specimen handling practices.
 Perform vein puncture and capillary sticks (Phlebotomy) on minimally ill or hard to draw patients.
